The word, "photography" comes from the greek language. "Photo" means light and "graphy" which means to draw. When someone would use the word, "photography" it would mean capturing images by the action of light. One of the first people to use this word was Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839. This is one of the first cameras called an, 'camera obscura'. When they used this first camera, they would let light define the picture.
In the 1880s, cameras were usually used by, and for, the rich and famous. We could not get them like we do today. Since the 1880s, the world of camer's has progressed enormously. Not only do we have film cameras, but we have digital, throw away, and even under water cameras. And now today, photography has been introduced to the modern world.. the world of industry. It has been made easy for everyone.. but the people who desire this art truly understand it.

This was really interesting to me. It was cool to learn about the first camera a little bit also.
I really learned a lot from reading your blog. A few things that I learned was the first person who used the camera and that the richer people had their own camera's or they were the only ones who got their picture taken.
I get why photography is called photography, but why is the camera called the camera?
Camera comes from the latin orgin that means, 'dark chamber'
it was pretty cool tell us about the first camera. nice blog
That was pretty interesting. I didn't know that cameras started way back then.
Do you know how long it took for early photos to be imprinted? How about the difference in film? Where do you think the camera will go next?
